SUMMARY:Practical Neurodiversity Round Table / Mesa Redonda de Neurodiversidad Práctica
DESCRIPTION:How do we each try to make room for all kinds of brains\, while still honoring the needs of our own? As the autism acceptance movement grows in strength\, more and more people have announced their support of neurodiversity. Like many ideas that reach the mainstream\, though\, there may be confusion or details that get lost along the way. The goal of inclusivity can lead us to move outside our comfort zone. Convenience and familiarity get traded in for a more profound perspective. \n\n\n\nDr. Lucas Harrington\, a psychologist at the UW Autism Center\, will facilitate this discussion. As a psychologist who identifies as autistic\, Dr. Harrington will share stories and insights from his community as well his vision for a more inclusive world. \n\n\n\n\nRegister using the provided QR code or access the form directly.Registrénse usando el código QR or la planilla directamente. \n\n\n\nLive translation to Spanish and ASL interpretation provided.

DESCRIPTION:IN-PERSON- Monthly Drumming Circle at Verdant Health \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCLASS DESCRIPTION – A drum circle is a rhythm-based event where people gather in a circle to express themselves with African drums and percussion instruments. A facilitator guides the session\, encouraging and supporting people as they reconnect with their innate sense of rhythm. You will learn about the history of the drumming circles what research shows and how this experience can help create a safe container within which to engage in authentic and meaningful discussions about personal healing although words are often unnecessary. \n\n\n\nVerdant in partnership with the Washington West African Center will provide the drums for use during the class. *Note: We will have other types of drums and diverse cultural approaches\, musical styles\, and instructors throughout 2023. \n\n\n\nPlease arrive 10 minutes (5:50pm) so we can start promptly at 6pm. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please contact us at \n\n\n\nDate: 2nd Thursdays of the month starting on January 12th\, 2023 \n\n\n\nTime: 6:00pm – 7:00 pm PDT \n\n\n\nIn-person: at the Verdant Community Wellness Center (4710 196th St SW Lynnwood\, WA 98036) Limited seating available. \n\n\n\nCost: Free \n\n\n\nRegistration is required\, space is limited* Register on Event Brite HERE or email Sandra.Huber@verdanthealth.org \n\n\n\n* If this class is oversubscribed\, priority will be given to residents living in South Snohomish County due to funding restrictions. \n\n\n\nWhere can I contact the organizer with any questions? \n\n\n\nEmail:  sandra.huber@verdanthealth.org  or  call  425-582-8600
