Review skills and characteristics needed to effectively serve as a Peer Mental Health Navigator (e.g., clear communication, empathy, etc.)
Practice strategies for conflict resolution and how to work through difficult situations with people.
Examine different forms of “self-care,” and positive coping techniques for stressful situations and life events.
Discuss culturally tailored and appropriate strategies that can promote positivity around help-seeking behaviors within communities.
Identify community resources and services that support people’s mental health and well-being and help other people find resources that support their mental health and well-being.
Role-play different scenarios for acting as a Peer Mental Health Navigator (PMHN).
Identify ways that you can engage in promoting mental health in your community.
