Mental Health Matters WA (MHM) hosts community events that raise public awareness about mental health and help to break the social stigma about mental health and illness. These events will apply an arts based approach and involve other community partners. Language interpreters for on-site events are provided.

MINDfest 2024

May is Mental Health Awareness month. In honor of it, Mental Health Matters of Washington (MHM WA) presents its second annual MINDfest, a mental health arts festival at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, WA in the Angst building. This is a FREE community event that’s open to all. The theme this year is: Caring for the Mind, Body and Spirit.

Mayo es el mes de concientización sobre la salud mental. En honor a ello, Mental Health Matters of Washington (MHM WA) presenta su segunda MINDfest anual, un festival de salud mental y artes en Skagit Valley College en Mount Vernon, WA, edificio Angst. Este es un evento comunitario GRATUITO que está abierto a todos. El tema de este año es: Cuidando la mente, el cuerpo y el espíritu.

MINDfest provides a mix of speakers, interactive sessions, music, art, and dance. Featured speakers include a keynote from professor Michael Tuncap,  a higher education and non-profit leader as well as youth advocate. Tuncap will speak about the intersections between mental health and well-being, identity, and social justice. 

MINDfest ofrece una combinación de oradores, sesiones interactivas, música, arte y danza. Los oradores destacados incluyen un discurso de apertura del profesor Michael Tuncap, líder de educación superior y de organizaciones sin fines de lucro, así como defensor de la juventud. Tuncap hablará sobre las intersecciones entre salud mental y bienestar, identidad y justicia social.

Another featured speaker, Dr.  Lucia Magis-Weinberg, an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of the InterACT Lab at UW Seattle, will present about the connection between mental health and social media. A Q&A session with the attendees will follow. 

Otra oradora destacada, la Dra. Lucia Magis-Weinberg, profesora adjunta de Psicología y directora del Laboratorio InterACT en la Universidad de Washington en Seattle, hablará sobre la conexión entre la salud mental y las redes sociales.
