Connect for Social and Mental Wellness: Join our 2023 Drumming Circle (in person) at Verdant Health
January 12 , 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm PST
IN-PERSON- Monthly Drumming Circle at Verdant Health

CLASS DESCRIPTION – A drum circle is a rhythm-based event where people gather in a circle to express themselves with African drums and percussion instruments. A facilitator guides the session, encouraging and supporting people as they reconnect with their innate sense of rhythm. Inclusiveness is a core principle – people of all backgrounds, mobility, ages and skill levels (even first-time beginners) can participate. It becomes a model for our world family, an opportunity to engage in this age-old activity where young and old play and celebrate together.
What can you expect?
Individually and as a group, we can experience how making sound can quiet the mind, soothe the body, and create community through connection to oneself and others. You will learn about the history of the drumming circles what research shows and how this experience can help create a safe container within which to engage in authentic and meaningful discussions about personal healing although words are often unnecessary.
Verdant in partnership with the Washington West African Center will provide the drums for use during the class. *Note: We will have other types of drums and diverse cultural approaches, musical styles, and instructors throughout 2023.
Please arrive 10 minutes (5:50pm) so we can start promptly at 6pm.
